It has been an eventful couple of weeks since a certain short video sharing platform plummeted in ratings on the Google Play Store. Now a new app which is called ‘Remove China Apps’ was launched earlier this month. The app arrived in the Google Play Store earlier this month by a Jaipur-based startup called OneTouchAppLabs. The name point blank does what it says – removes Chinese apps which are installed on the user’s phone.

Detecting the country of origin is based on the market research but we do not guarantee any correct/wrong information, so users should act only at their own will.

The app is currently available only on Android. The ‘Remove China Apps’ is 3.5MB in size and can be downloaded for free. The app gets a simple UI where you can just tap the ‘Scan Now’ button post which the app shows you the Chinese apps installed on your phone.

You can delete the apps by tapping on the bin icon placed next to the apps’ name. You will also need to provide ‘Remove China Apps’ permission to uninstall apps.

How to remove Chinese apps from your phone

  • Download the ‘Remove China Apps’ app from the Play Store.
  • Now, open the app and click on ‘Scan Now’.
  • The app will then scan your phone and look for Chinese apps on your device.

To delete all apps from China-based companies using the ‘Delete China Apps‘ app all users need to do is scan all apps on their smartphone and then delete apps individually by tapping on the bin icon that appears right next to the name of the app in the scanned list of mobile applications.

The popularity of the app is increasing and is ranked second on the list of top free apps on the Google Play Store currently anti-China movement gained after engineer turned reformer Sonam Wangchuk appealed to Indians to boycott Chinese products.

Remove China Apps, an Android app that claims to identify China-made apps on your Android phone and remove them has gone viral in India. The app is currently at the top spot of Google Play’s top free apps list and it has been downloaded by over 10 lakh users since its launch on May 17. This development comes at a time when anti-China sentiment is high in the country, sparked by the novel coronavirus pandemic, India-China border dispute, and more. Another app playing on similar sentiments – Mitron – has also gained traction over the last several days and is being touted as an alternate to TikTok.

What is Remove China Apps?
The creators of the Remove China Apps claim that the app is “developed for educational purposes” and it allows users to “identify” the country of origin of certain apps installed on their Android phones. However, as the name suggests, it only identifies apps that are developed by Chinese companies, and users can further uninstall them through Remove China Apps if they wish to.
